Movie Poster Recreate - DIY1.

Recommended to play this song when reading this Blog : Mystery of Love - Sufjan Stevens.

Original Re-created

The original poster of The Truman Show shows a man, Truman, walking up the stairs to an unknown door, with the blue sky behind him. The text beside says “On air. Unaware.”, which means he is being watched by the world, but doesn’t know the truth.

In my version, I changed the poster to connect with LGBTQ+ topics, especially the feeling of living in a world that doesn’t accept who you really are.

In many cultures, people grow up with the idea that being straight is the only normal. From childhood, boys are told not to cry or play with dolls. LGBTQ+ people are expected to follow this “script”. It just like Truman in the show, where everyone around him is acting, and the life he lives is not real. He doesn’t get to choose his own way, just like LGBTQ+ people are often told who they should love or how they should act.

So, I changed the door behind Truman into a rainbow door. Rainbow means LGBTQ+ and “coming out”. The moment when people walk through the door is when they finally become free, and choose to live their own truth. The bright color of the door behind him makes him stand out from the black-and-white background, which I changed from the blue sky. The black-and-white world represents a society that only accepts one kind of love, one kind of identity.

I changed the title to The Comeout Show, to show this is not just about Truman, but about many people who want to break free from a world that hides them.

I changed the slogan “On air. Unaware.” to“Out. Loud. Proud.” This means LGBTQ+ people should not hide anymore. They deserve to be seen, to be accepted, and to be proud of who they are.

The original tagline “The story of a lifetime” became The story of pride. This new line means that themselves allowing their real identities, their full color, to finally appear. It speaks to the beauty of living truthfully, without shame. Just as Truman walks toward the unknown in the film, LGBTQ+ people's sexuality could be the pride of them, and walk out of closets into a world where they no longer have to hide.
