Projects

To me, video is a language.
When words fail to express and emotions have nowhere to rest, I speak through the lens.
The act of filming is a dialogue with myself; every frame is a reflection of my inner state.

In Shamshuipo, Hong Kong, Master Ou Jinming's calloused hand brushes over the lion's fluffy head, and the lion's painted eyes glow with the halo of old times under the tungsten lamp - the lion dance that has accompanied Master Au since he was a child. Outside the window, traffic is still flowing, but the hustle and bustle of this bustling city is frozen at this moment - inside the small martial arts hall, the lion dancers are rewriting the contemporary footnotes of the traditional skills with their sweat amidst the ups and downs of the times.

It tells the story of two close friends spending their last day together. The film begins with them lying on the grass, chatting lightly. Until one says, “I have cancer.” Facing the end, they try to preserve their everyday warmth: walking, buying bracelets, choosing a cake, taking photos. Sunshine, laughter, and unease intertwine as they resist the shadow of fate.
In the end, MC awakens to find her friend gone. In the photo, she stands alone. The bracelet and cake remain as proof. She realizes her friend had long departed, what she saw was a grief-born illusion, yet through it, she finds a quiet redemption.

But Mo was an outstanding student; teachers had stepped in to address the bullying, and even in her darkest moments, there was someone who stepped out and cared for her. So what, then, was the final trigger that pushed her over the edge—or was there ever just one?
